April: It seems that you are familiar to the band. So how about a brief introduction?

Michael: Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in 1987.

April: Yeah. Punk music is very popular at that time. Started in 1970s,it quickly covered the world and conquered the old fashions.

Michael: To be exactly , punk music is the origin of punk rock. It is more complex and uses more instruments. And I am fond of the punk rock music these days.【5.21】

Michael: Hum... The band has consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool for the majority of its existence.

April：Exactly. Michael, I wonder how they started as punks and went through 20 year, How’s their beginning?

Michael: Green Day was originally part of the punk scene at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California.绿日乐队原本是位于加尼福尼亚另类音乐俱乐部的朋克一族。At that time , they are called Sweet Children. And Billie Joe was just 15 years old.

April ：Wow, that’s a long time ago!

April: Punks always dress strangely and act differently from the people of their age. Different attitudes toward them. Despide of this， many of them are doing just themselves.

Michael: That is true. Punk music is always full of anger full of sadness and full of enthusiasm. I like the passion hide in the rhythm, in the voice of the guitar, in the special voice of the singers. While most punk rock uses the distorted(变声的) guitars and noisy drumming that is derived from 1960s garage rock and 1970s pub rock, some punk bands incorporate elements from other music styles, such as metal or folk rock . 音乐放大到减小…【2.12】

A: Michael? Judging from your introductions about the several bands, you must be familiar with the style of punk music, right?

M: Yeah, I am a punk rock fan. That’s natural.

A: So here’s my question: where was the word “punk” first called?朋克这个词语是起源于哪里呢？ Any idea?

A: That’s the answer. The word was developed in the 1970s in the United Kingdom. In those days hardly anything positive could be found in the word punk.由于英国当时的经济危机，庞克应景而生， It’s all the depression. 只是在当时的美国，流行的progressive rock music就截然不同了。

M: Meanwhile, Americans are doing the music style they called progressive rock music, 激进式摇滚乐，which is totally different from the British punk.

A:Sure.Linkin Park is an American rock band from Agoura Hills, California. 也就是美国加州的摇滚乐队。Formed in 1996, the band rose to international fame with their debut album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005 and multi-platinum in several other countries. Yeah，随着 2000年林肯公园首张专辑《混合理论(Hybrid Theory)》 在主流音乐市场上big success，the six boys rapidly gained fame.

M:Its following studio album, Meteora, continued the band's success, In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth greatest band of the music video era and the third best of the new millennium behind Oasis and Coldplay.林肯公园的第二张专辑《天空之城—Meteora》也取得可喜的成功.

A:Topping the Billboard 200 album chart in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world.
