成都别称“蓉城”“锦城”“天府之国”，位于四川省中部，是四川省省会，中国副省级城市之一，是国务院确定的中国西南地区的科技中心、商贸中心、金融中心和交通、通讯枢纽，也是四川省政治、经济、文教中心，国家经济与社会发展计划单列市。

成都古为蜀国地，秦并巴、蜀为蜀郡并建城，汉因织锦业发达专设锦官管理，故有“锦官城”之称，五代蜀时遍种芙蓉，故别称“芙蓉城”，简称“蓉”。总面积1.24万平方千米，中心城区面积598平方千米，辖9区4市6县，总人口1257.9万。

In ancient time ,Chengdu belongs to Shu State, then Qin State merged Ba and Shu as the county Shu and built the city, In Han dynasty, Chengdu was especially set up with the brocade official, because it have had developed brocade industry. As a result, it got a name of “the City of Brocade”. In the five dynasties, there was dense and large hibiscus in Chengdu, so it’s named “the City of Hibiscus” or “Hibiscus” for short. Covering a total land area of 12.400 square kilometers, of which 598 square kilometers are central town, Chengdu has 9 jurisdictions of 9 districtions, 4 cities and 6 counties. The population of Chengdu has reached 12.579 million.

成都拥有2300多年的建城史，是中国首批历史文化名城之一，是中国非物质文化遗产节永久举办地。成都是中国四大名菜系之一川菜的发祥地，享有“天府之国，美食成都”的盛誉。2010年，被联合国教科文组织确定为亚洲首个“世界美食之都”。成都是联合国世界旅游组织和国家旅游局联合命名的中国最佳旅游城市，市区内及周边地区拥有世界文化遗产都江堰-青城山，世界自然遗产九寨-黄龙，大熊猫栖息地等众多风景名胜。

Chengdu, owning the history of more than 2300 years, is known as one of the first famous historical cities of China, the permanent meeting place for China’s Non Material Cultural Heritage Festival .Chengdu is the birth place of Sichuan Cuisine, which is one of china’s four Cuisines, being reputed as “the Land of Abundance, the Capital of gastronomy”.
