Yetasfaraswomenhavecome,theystillearnonaverageonly81.2percentasmuchasmenandremaininlower-endjobs.Whatarethebest-payingjobsforwomen?Usingdataontheweeklyearningsoffull-timeworkersin2010collectedbyBLS,wediscoveredthattechandhealthcareiswherethemoney'sat.
Femalephysiciansandsurgeonstoppedthelist.Thesewomenearnedamedianof$1,618perweek,orabout$84,000ayear,morethananyotherprofessiontrackedbytheBLS.Maledoctorscontinuetoearnmorethanfemaledoctors,butthepaygaphasnarrowedeachyear;it'snowat29percentversus41percenttwoyearsago.
Interestingly,thesecondbest-payingjobforwomenisapharmacist.Femalepharmacistsmakeamedianof$1,605perweekorabout$83,500annually,nearlyasmuchasphysiciansandsurgeonsandmorethanchiefexecutives,whichcameinatNo.3onourlist.Womenaccountfor48percentofthepharmacyprofession

andearn83percentasmuchasmalepharmacists.Meanwhile,only26percentofCEOsarewomen,andtheyearnjust72percentasmuchastheirmalepeers.
