Introduction of The Million Pound Note
The Million Pound Note was adapted by Mark Twain's classic satirical short story.
Here goes the story.
Two rich brothers come up with a crazy idea: What if a poor man gets a current note for a million pounds? Different people have different ideas, so they naturally have an argument. One of them thinks a poor man who gets this note will still suffer from poverty. While the other considers that the poor man will enjoy a rich life even without using the note. To prove their own idea, the two men choose a young American seaman Henry Adams to keep the note for just one month. To our surprise, Adams doesn’t starve to death. On the contrary, he is considered as a millionaire.
Whenever he tries to use the note to buy something, no one asks him to pay the bills.
With time going by, he owns a large number of bills. Later,a mischievous guy in the hotel steals his note, which causes that the stock declines rapidly. Soon people start to ask their bills from Adams. Adams is in a dilemma, and does not know what he should do. Finally, he returns the note to the two wealthy men, and goes away. Though he loses money, he gets what he really wants.
The film satires the money worship of Britain in the 1900s. It also tells us to pursue what is really important to us, not just money.
