Many kids do housework such as doing the dishes, making the bed,and folding the clothes. In exchange, they get some money or other computer time.

Paying kids for housework is one of the most popular topics, especially at a time when everyone is more careful about money. Some parents think since adults are paid to do their jobs,we should pay kids for everyday housework.

But some people don’t think kids should get rewards(报酬)for doing housework.Susie Walton,an expert, believes that by rewarding kids, parents are sending a message that work isn’t worth doing unless you get something in return.Running any kind of housework is a team effort, Walton says.A home is a living space for everyone in the family. It’s important for kids to see that we all have responsibilities in the house, and family decide how they want their home to look, and how they are going to keep it looking like what they want.

Other people believe that getting a reward encourages kids to do housework, and it also teaches them real world lessons about how we need to work to get money. There are also apps(程序)that give kids points and digital gifts that can be redeemed(兑现)either online or in the real world. Our goal is to give kids lawful power so they can get rewards, says Chris Bergman. And kids need rewards to help encourage them.

On my recent trip to Sydney with my parents,we visited the Wildlife Park.

The Wildlife Park has lots of different animals and birds. Some are native(当地的) to Australia and can only be found there. There are over 600 animals there, including kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles(鳄鱼).They are kept in their natural environment.I like the Wildlife Park better than a zoo where most of the animals are in cages(笼子).

We first spent some time with the kangaroos. We were allowed to touch and feed them.It was very exciting to be so close to them. There were koalas there too. They looked very cuddly(令人想拥抱的).Although we were not allowed to carry them,I got to take a photo with one.It is a wonderful souvenir(纪念品) of my holiday in Sydney.

The Wildlife Park has plenty of freshwater and saltwater crocodiles. Some of them are really big and scary(吓人的) with huge teeth!I did not want to get too close to them.

There was also a bird show. The keepers showed us different species(种类) they had.I saw an old parrot which could talk.It made a great impression on me.

How to Deal with Your Homework

Write it down. 36 Make a note on your notebook. Always remember to write down any homework for school so you won’t forget anything.

Create a homework station. Find somewhere comfortable and quiet to work. 37 It will take twice as long to get the homework done. Shut off your cell phone, power off your computer and close the door.

Do it as early as possible. Don’t leave homework to the last minute. 38 The earlier you start your homework, the sooner you will finish! Do all your homework as early as you can. Then you won’t have a pile of (一堆)homework the next day.

39 Think about how long it will take you to finish each homework subject. For example: English— ten minutes, science — ten minutes, math — forty minutes, Chinese — twenty minutes, etc.
