概述

无论是在英语国家还是中国，通知(notice)、海报(poster)都是运用十分广泛的实用文本，举凡社会交往、公共活动、工作沟通、商务交往诸方面，都随处可见这些文本活跃的身影，可以说，它们无处不在、无时不用，而且还具有极大的时效性、直观性、广泛性和告知功能，其实用价值是任何一种电子通讯手段都无法完全取代的。

然而，由于各种各样的原因，在我国各种层次的英语教育实践过程中，这些实用文本的汉英互译长期以来却一直倍受冷落，最近几年相关教材到是出版了不少，但鲜有学校或外语培训机构在这些实用文本的翻译教学上下功夫，就好像它们不能登大雅之堂似的。很多英语专业的学生越来越注重于日常交际英语、商务英语、旅游英语、科技英语等专门用途英语，而对这些同样是专门通途英语、具有极大实用价值的文本译写可以说是一窍不通，以至于在工作中屡屡受挫，被误以为是大学英语教育失败的典型范例。这当然不是学生的错！如果教学任务中不强调这些文本的译写能力的培养，缺乏实践生活经验的学生自然就会完全忽视它们的存在，自然也就谈不上对这种重要技能的学习与运用了。

随着中西商务沟通、文化交往的日益频繁，上述实用文本的互译早已提上议事日程，虽然还没有引起外语教育界足够的重视，但各级外语教育工作者都应当针对它们生活运用的实效性能，积极主动地展开这些实用文本互译的教学工作。

中英文的通知、海报和招贴在格式结构上和语言表达方面既有相似之处又有不同之处，所以在英译时要特别注意。

1. 通知、海报（notice and poster）的英译策略

1.1 通知(notice)的英译

通知适用于上下级之间、组织机构与员工之间、学校与学生之间安排部署工 作、传递信息等目的。

通知有两种写法，一种是以布告形式贴出，把事情告知有关人员，如员工、 学生、观众等，通常不用称呼语；另一种是以电子邮件形式发送到相关人员邮箱，也只需写明通知具体内容即可。

汉英两种通知形式与内容大同小异, 即正文上方位置写上大写的notice， 出通知单位名称写于正文右下角或标题下右方；但是英语文本通知的发布时间应置于标题左下方；通知一般无需写称呼语，也不用结束语。

通知的内容包括：标题、通知对象、事由、时间、地点、组办机构等。英汉 两种通知都要求言简意赅、条理清楚、措辞得当、发布及时。例如：

manager office通知的主要目的是传递即时性较强的信息，所以必须开门见山，直截了 当，根据告知对象和事由不同，语言可正式，也可随意。

【例2】晚会通知(notice of an english evening)

目包括：英语歌曲演唱、英语故事、英语相声和英语短剧表演。欢迎同学们和教师踊跃参加。

虽然大部分通知不需要称呼语，但对于那些具有呼告功能的通知来说， 最好还是加上一个可以起到呼告作用的称呼语，如本例。

【例4】活动延期通知(notice of postponing activity)

通知的语言要求言简意赅，能用一句话说明白的事情绝不可以用两句话来表达，只要保证能准确把信息传递给相关人员就行了。

1.2 海报(poster)的英译

海报是日常生活中常见的一种通告形式，多用于讲座、电影、戏曲、比赛、文艺演出等社会公益活动，内容包括活动的性质、主办单位、活动时间及地点等。海报的语言要力求简明扼要，形式要做到新颖美观。

海报格式通常由三个部分组成，即标题、正文与落款。

海报标题有两种写法，一是直接使用“海报”(poster)一词；另一种则是根据海报内容拟定一新颖独特的标题，以期吸引观者瞩目。

海报的正文是海报的核心部分，是对标题的具体描述，要求语言生动形象，简明扼要。这一部分可以采用多种形式表现，例如：简介式、描述式、美术设计式。

海报落款要写明主办单位名称以及撰写日期。落款通常写于海报正文左下角，如果是叙述性质通知，日期置于标题右下方。
