     Last Sunday was my son’s 8th birthday. His father and I decided to hold a simple but fun birthday party for him. We asked him to invite some of his classmates. At 11:30am, we ate the birthday cake together. After the meal, the children played some games happily. The party ended at about 2pm. Everyone enjoyed himself at the party, and we did a good job, too.

    Camp Happy Times is a camp for people with cancer now or in the past. It is a one-week overnight camp. All campers should be aged from 5 to 21. They can take part in the camp for free. About 200 people take part in the camp every year.

     Camp Happy Times wants to help cancer patients to make friends and to work with others. It tries its best to offer a comfortable environment to patients. When patients are there, they don’t pay attention to their illness. Also, they don’t need to explain their illness to other campers. For many patients, especially children, this is their first time away from home. However, to be able to talk with other sick children makes them feel good.

     "We understand each other and what we have been through," said camper Casey, aged 14.

     "I want to visit Camp Happy Times every summer. There, other campers understand me and understand why I am different easily. This makes me feel good and helps me get all through the school year," said camper Amanda, aged 12.

     At the camp, campers are divided into groups. They are encouraged to do every-day activity and learn new skills.

     "My Camp Happy Times experiences helped me know what I can do as a cancer patient. It helped me solve many problems that medicine couldn’t help," said camper John, aged 18.
