Albert thought for a while, then smiled.

“Will we be able to do more things together? Great! Then go quicly. I will wait the remaining years before we have a bigger house.”

On hearing this, Albert’s father closed the front door, without leaving. Albert was growing up very fast, and his father new he couldn’t wait for so long. So he too off his jacet, put down his computer and his reports, and sat with Albert to play with him. Albert, who was as surprised as he was happy, said, “Yes, I thin the promotion and the new house can wait for a few years.”

My si­year­old granddaughter, Mary, found a small frecle(斑点) on her left arm. She didn't lie it and tried to pic it off.

Though many countries have laws against the illegal ivory trade (反对非法象牙贸易), tens of thousands of African elephants are illed every year.

In January, 2014, hundreds of elephant tuss (象牙) as well as ivory sculptures were put into two large crushing machines (粉碎机) in Guangdong, China. In all, more than si tons of ivory were destroyed. People called the event an ivory crush. In November, 2013, the similar event happened in Colorado, America. There, wildlife officials also destroyed more than si tons of ivory.

Though it may sound strange, wildlife officials are crushing ivory to help save African elephants. Stephanie Wang, who wors for the Wildlife Protection Society in New Yor City, says, “We try to let the world now that we don’t thin ivory is valuable when it’s not on an elephant.” Each year, poachers ill elephants, cut off their long tuss and tae the tuss out of Africa secretly. Then they sell the tuss and get thousands of dollars. The buyers use the ivory to mae sculptures, jewellery and traditional medicines. 

The purpose of recent ivory crushes is to send a message to the poachers and those who buy illegal ivory. Stephanie Wang says, “China’s ivory crush is ‘an important step’. However, it is only a small amount (数量) of the illegal ivory. If we don’t stop the illegal ivory trade, African elephants could disappear from the wild within 10 years.”
