Yunnan Cross-bridge Rice Noodles is a daintiness and has a history of more than one hundred years. It stems from a beautiful and moving story. It first originated in mengzi country in the south of Yunnan provine. According to legend, there is a south lake(still)now outside county, where the lake water is as clear as the blue sky and surrounded by weeping willow, and a small island in the middle of it. The island is beautiful and quiet, their air is fresh and pleasant. It was a great place for students to study.

A scholar often went to study hard, but because of working hard and often forgot to eat food sent by his wife. When he ate them, they were cold. As time passed, because the diet wasn't normal, the scholar became more and more weak, his good wife was very loved dearly. Once, his wife killed a fat hen and stewed with a marmite. She found the soup was still warm for a long time. So, she put rice noodles liked by the local people and other seasonings into the soup.It became very delicious after being mixed, the scholar also liked to eat. Hence, his good wife often imitated this way to cook and sent to him.
