Lately a popular eight-floor Book store in Hefei, Anhui Province, has risen to fame because it becomes the world’s first shared Book store in a move ment meant to encourage more reading in Chinese citizens. 

It came to people’s attention as more than 200,000 visitors flooded into the store on its first day as a shared Book store on July 16 this year, a record high since it was reopened in 2013.Some 4,000 Book s were brought home on the first day, Thepaper.cn reported.

Customers are allowed to borrow up to two Book s valued at under 150 yuan per visit after registering with an app and paying the 99-yuan deposit fee(押金).

All Book s on sale in the Book store are available for sharing. Returned Book s that are damaged are sold at a discount. The Book store also provides a bonus for Book worms. People who finish reading 12 Book s in three months can get eight percent of their deposit back, and members can be rewarded with one yuan for every Book they have read.

“We want to bring down the cost of reading so people could read more Book s,”Xu Xinwei, who helps run the Book store, told Thepaper.cn.

Some parents buy a lot of Book s for their children, but they usually end up collecting dust as the children grow up.Similarly, some popular novels for young people also fall out of fashion, according to Xu.“Book s are more effectively used when they’re shared,”Xu said.

30km: 8:00—10:00 am　　20km: 8:00—10:30 am

The organizers reserve the right to refuse late comers.

CLOTHING should be suitable for the weather. If rain is forecast, bring some protections and be prepared for all possibilities. It is better to wear shoes that have been worn out, rather than ones that are new.

ROUTE MAPS will be available from the registration point. The route will be sign posted and arranged. Where the route runs along the road, walkers should keep to one side in single file, facing the oncoming traffic at all times. If you need help along the route, please inform one of our staff. 

Free car parking is available in car parks and on streets in Weldown.

BUSES For the 10 and 20 kilometers’ routes, a bus will be waiting at Fenton to take walkers back to Weldown. The bus will leave every half an hour, starting at midday. The service is free and there is no need to Book.
